Hiring a colleague for our public relations and strategy shop...
Lighthouse Public Affairs is Northern California’s largest and fastest-growing independent full-service public affairs firm. Headquartered in San Francisco, with offices in Sacramento, Oakland, Palo Alto, and Mill Valley, and with further expansion coming soon, our excellent team of focused professionals work on urgent, headline-grabbing and high-stakes matters for our world-class roster of clients. About the position:
Lighthouse seeks to add a colleague to our media/comms/PR practice. The successful candidate will lead on media- and strategy-related issues for many Lighthouse clients, working with our entire team to handle our clients’ varied challenges. S/he will oversee a suite of professional tools including LexisNexis Newsdesk and Meltwater, and will manage client and internal strategy on a number of fronts.
At Lighthouse, we grant broad latitude to our colleagues as to how they choose to successfully manage their time and efforts. We offer a flexible work schedule with appropriate remote work options. Our new colleague will work from our Jackson Square headquarters in San Francisco.
You are a sophisticated and experienced PR and communications professional, with knowledge of the vibrant Northern California media market – and beyond. You’re an excellent and speedy writer and editor, able to craft compelling and consistent messages to a diverse set of media, community, and governmental stakeholders. You’ve forged relationships with reporters and editors, and you are a creative tactician who can quickly identify the right journalist(s) to whom a pitch should be made for any particular story.
Your confidence in your skill set is high; you pride yourself on being ever-prepared to take questions from print and video journalists while staying on message. You have worked with attorneys and regulators, you have worked in politics and with politicians, and you understand their needs and desires. And you are sufficiently well-organized to switch gears while advising and guiding a half-dozen different clients on any given day.
You’re deeply ethical; you care about your own reputation, your employer’s, and your clients’. You know that you’re more productive as part of a high-performing team than as a lone wolf. You have successfully managed confidential and sensitive information. You have a bias for action, and believe in fighting hard – and fair – to achieve the long-term win.
Base salary is competitive, DOE. Salary is supplemented by health/dental, 401(k), and eligibility for quarterly profit-sharing, when available. We have a progressive vacation and sick leave policy. We are an equal opportunity employer.
Please send a compelling cover letter, your resume, and your salary requirements to firstname.lastname@example.org. No calls, please.
