Alison Hawkes is the 2021 Director, Professional Development for PRSA-SF and is a science communications specialist and media lead at NASA's Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California. A longtime journalist specializing in science reporting and editing, she transitioned into government public affairs in 2017 to serve as the communications lead to close out NASA's first exoplanet mission, the Kepler space telescope. Nowadays, she leads NASA's new rover mission to the Moon, VIPER, and supports a variety of science communications efforts while acting as primary contact for media. Outside of her day job, Alison chases after two young children and enjoys very long walks on the beach while catching up on her podcasts.
