Meet Vernae Graham,

Media Relations Manager, Western Region, Amtrak

We periodically feature veteran and new PRSA San Francisco members and tell the story of their public relations career. If you would like to suggest a PRSA San Francisco member for a profile, please send an email to info@prsasf.org.

How did you get started in public relations/communications and what has your journey looked like?

Through a strong connection (source) from my television assignment desk days, I landed in PR. This was after years in both print and broadcast journalism.

What do you like the most about your career in public relations/communications?

Stems from my journalism background…research/strategy.

Tell us about a memorable moment in your career.

Wow. There have been so many. One of the most memorable – working on communication plans with esteemed academics on a variety of children advocacy initiatives at Children Now. The other – SF Chronicle editorial board meeting with then Amtrak Vice Chair, Michael Dukakis. Half the newsroom showed up for the meeting. Everyone wanted to meet the former Governor.

Why did you join PRSA and how does your membership benefit you?

PRSA is great for networking and for keeping track of industry trends.
