A Message from John Vernon - 2018 PRSA San Francisco Board President

On a Thursday night many years ago, I attended my first PRSA-SF networking event. I had just recently become a member and wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. Little did I know I would find a community that would help me grow professionally and personally. Little did I know I would build relationships with some of the most extraordinary people I’ve ever been privileged to meet. Little did I know that night would be the beginning of an incredibly fun, meaningful, educational, and exciting adventure!

My name is John Philip Vernon, and I’m honored to be your 2018 PRSA-SF President. I’m also so very grateful and proud to introduce you to your 2018 Board of Directors, an exceptionally talented and dedicated team of volunteers. On Saturday, January 6th, we convened for our annual leadership retreat and exchanged initial ideas, goals, and opportunities that we envision for 2018. Spoiler alert – we’ve got some amazing initiatives in the works for you, our Chapter members and future members!

Among our initiatives – ongoing programs, events, professional development opportunities, and so much more – a common thread and core priority is diversity and inclusion (D&I). In 2017, PRSA-SF was named winner of PRSA’s Chapter Diversity Award, given annually to the Chapter that best embodies and demonstrates key values in D&I and contributes to advancing diversity locally and nationally. This year, we are committed and energized to continue to be a D&I leader – for our Chapter, and as a model and resource for other PRSA Chapters, as well.

Through our weekly newsletter, social channels, and soon-to-be-launched beautiful new Chapter website, we’re excited to keep you in the loop on all things PRSA-SF. That includes upcoming programs and events, as well as info around APR, our Independent PR Pros Group, sponsorship opportunities, partnerships we’re looking to build and nurture with local universities, and more.

We also want to hear from you! If you ever have any questions, feedback, or ideas, or are interested in getting more involved and learning about volunteer opportunities, please reach out.

Thank you so very much for being a part of our PRSA-SF community. We’re here for you, and we’re looking forward to a fun, successful, and awesome 2018!

Thanks,

John
